DJ or Live Band for Your Wedding Reception?

One of the most important elements of a successful wedding reception is the musical entertainment. For many newlyweds, this normally comes down to a straight choice between the pre recorded music played by a professional DJ and the live music provided by hired wedding bands. Thankfully, DJs have come a long way since the cheesy disco lights and mobile discos of yesteryear. However, even the most enthusiastic and accomplished DJ just cannot create the same kind of atmosphere that comes from talented live bands who can make music.

Although generally more expensive to hire than an individual DJ, the extra money spent on live bands can provide extra benefit. After decades in which the disco was king, there is now an increasing vogue in favour of live music; a trend led right from the top where, against a background of cheap, and in some cases free, downloads, some of our most loved and popular bands are increasingly dependent for the bulk of their royalties on live performances.

Parties and functions are now fulfilling this new hunger for live music, by hiring solo artists and live bands. Depending on the nature of the function, this new real music can be anything from the soft ripples of a harp player to the rich, powerful musical tour de force of rock or soul bands. However, some function organisers worry that whilst a DJ will always be able to play something for everyone, the repertoire of a live band may prove too limited to keep the vast majority of guests entertained. This concern is not only unfounded, but misconstrues the ways in which guests respond to musical entertainment.

Types Of Corporate Event Entertainment

At a corporate event, the grand finale is often made by choosing function bands who will get the party atmosphere going and make sure your guests feel well looked after and leave the event on a high. Party bands provide the show element to any event and are essential when it comes to getting people up off their chairs and onto the dance floor. Function bands can be made even more spectacular by incorporating light shows and pyrotechnic displays, depending on the budget.

In addition to big party bands you may also want to include circulating entertainment for guests that remain seated. This may include comedians or magicians for example. They can help guests to break the ice and are particularly effective when the guests have just been seated to get conversation flowing.
