Getting Your Wedding Right

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

When planning your wedding the aim is to create the backdrop for the happiest day of your life. By planning well in advance you can ensure that the location is perfect and have fun in the process, by choosing the most ideal wedding bands.

1. Budget
When choosing your venue you should think about three key areas – food, convenient location and entertainment. Decide on the budget firstly and tot up how many people have been invited. If you have opted for a grand function and have the budget to go with it you can look at banquet halls that can take large numbers of guests. Another idea is to think about an outdoor venue.

2. Location
You need a central location so that guests and suppliers such as the catering and function bands can find the venue easily. Look at the surrounding landscape as this will be used as a background for the photographs.

3. Music and Food
The music and food are pivotal to a successful event and have as much bearing as the decor or location. Live bands can create a fantastic party atmosphere and ensure that your guests are well entertained. Professional function bands will work with you to ensure that they provide the type of tone and atmosphere you want to create.

Check out the catering services and if you’re not happy choose your own. Think about what will appeal to most people and offer vegetarian alternatives.

Keep Your Wedding Day Entertainment In Safe Hands

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

If you are planning the wedding entertainment for the evening you will be looking for function bands that offer a top class act who can get the party started, keep your guests dancing and act as a master of ceremonies to introduce key events in the evening such as the first dance. Organising a wedding day takes months of preparation from the florists to the hairdressers, to selecting the church to the hotel, from the wine to the photographer. The list is endless. You want to be able to sit back at the wedding reception and relax in the knowledge that the musical entertainment is in safe hands.

When choosing live bands there are some tips you can follow to make sure you select a professional and experienced band:

Avoid ‘club and pub’ function bands that offer a limited repertoire of rock tunes. You will need to look for wedding bands that can appeal to three or four different generations and can provide something for everyone. You may see a band at a pub and think they are great after a couple of drinks but would your parents and grandparents think the same? Look for live bands that perform at a wide range of events and can perform a wide range of songs.

Ask what the band will wear on the day. You want function bands that will meet the occasion and dress appropriately – not in jeans and T-shirts.

Book Your Festive Live Bands In Advance

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Time moves quickly and when planning festive events it pays to plan ahead. When choosing party bands this is no exception and starting the planning process early can make all the difference. If you are looking to commemorate the Christmas season with some musical entertainment or indeed you have an event later in the year, start your planning as early as possible.

When planning these types of festivities you want it to be fun and frivolous. You can choose to keep things purely festive or choose a specific musical theme. By starting early you can take time selecting function bands and listening to what they have to offer. If you are having a themed party night then live bands need to be able to offer music that can complement it and keep everyone up on the dance floor.

Think about the location of the party. Live bands are loud so you’ll need to choose a function room that is equipped to deal with this type of event. Anticipation will get the excitement going so booking function bands in advance will give everyone something to look forward to. Secure your booking with a deposit to ensure you aren’t disappointed at a later date through lack of choice.

Talk to the band you choose about lighting and sound checks. Good quality function bands will either arrange these things themselves or offer sound advice on how you should handle it.

At London Soul we have years of experience in entertaining at large functions and events, and our live bands are ideal whatever our clients’ specifications.

What Do Party Bands Have To Offer

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

At any event or function it is often the entertainment that stands out and makes the evening a success. Selecting the musical entertainment can be a challenge however, as there can be many people attending of differing ages which means a variety of music genres will be appropriate. When it is a small gathering or a large function live bands can make all the difference to the tome of the day or evening.

Party bands offer high quality entertainment that can be adapted for most occasions. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, a wedding or anniversary party bands usually offer a wide enough versatility to appeal to guests spanning several generations. They are also popular choices for corporate events such as business launches, networking events and conferences.

Tribute bands are another slant on the party band idea. An 80s tribute band can set a theme for party or event for example. If you are having a fancy dress party this can support your theme very well and help every one to get into the spirit of things.

If you are looking for something with more sophistication and wider appeal then soul bands are a great choice. From classic Motown to more up to date classics you can appeal to a wide age range and will be sure to have the dance floor crammed full of people dancing the night away.

At London Soul we are an experienced function band offering music entertainment from pop to rock to soul music.

Choosing Your Reception Music

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

When you get married it is one of those life changing events, and you want your wedding reception to be a wonderful celebration of this new union. One of the fundamental elements of any wedding reception is the choice of music. Music is instrumental in setting the tone and adding that extra dimension to the event. Sound systems and DJs are a common choice these days but it is live music that is becoming increasingly popular again. When choosing live bands there are some considerations to be made:

The first step is to think about the type of music that will be most fitting to your wedding and its location. If you are having a big party style celebration for the reception then raucous pop music may fit well. However if you are having a sophisticated garden reception you may want to choose something a little calmer. If you have the space think about what larger function bands could offer – a wide choice of music styles and a real party atmosphere.

Next you need to research wedding bands that fall within your music criteria. When searching for live bands often the best way is through referrals but if not take time to listen to any CDs or sound bites the wedding bands have to offer.

Once you have found the wedding bands of choice, take time to listen to them.
